Falls Service

Reducing the risk of falls and injuries sustained as a result of a fall

About the Falls Service

Posted: 2 October 2019 · Practice news

Falls are a common problem and as we get older we can be more likely to experience a fall. It is therefore important to identify what is causing you to fall in order to reduce the chance of it happening again.

The Falls Assessor, Joyce Simpson, can triage patients who are at risk of falls, or who have had falls, giving advice on awareness and prevention of falls.

She will also make any onward and appropriate referrals to services and professionals such as:

  • Falls/Multi-Disciplinary/Medical Assessment Clinic
  • Physiotherapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Locality Pharmacists
  • Podiatry
  • Social Work Department
  • Enhanced Community Support
  • Community Nurse
  • GPs
  • Balance & Strengthening Exercise Programme

For more information about falls, read the leaflet Falls: How to prevent them and what to do if you need help.
