From your Patient Participation Group (PPG)
Every month the Academy Medical Centre Patient Participation Group raises awareness of some of the health and wellbeing campaigns running nationally and worldwide.
The following campaigns are running in August:
- Sexual Health month: The Sexual Health Scotland website is very friendly and informative. It provides information and advice on sex and relationships, contraception, pregnancy, STIs and much more so do have a look. Their phone number is 0800224488 where there is someone on the end of the line to help you. There will be leaflets at the Information Point to pick up plus posters on the board.
- Breastfeeding is best: The NHS Inform Ready Steady Baby! website includes further information on this subject, from help and support to problems with breastfeeding. Also www.babycentre.co.uk gives practical advice on breastfeeding for beginners. Your health visitor will also advise. There will be booklets and posters at the Information Point in the foyer of the practice.
You can get involved and raise awareness by talking about the campaigns, tweeting or sharing on social media, or by donating and pledging your support.
About the PPG
The Academy Medical Centre PPG has worked with the practice since 2010 to enhance the delivery of primary care services in a number of areas.
You can make a difference to the Practice too! To get involved or find out more about the work and how the PPG assists the practice and you, the patient, see the Academy Medical Centre PPG page. Notes of our meetings are also available to give you a real flavour of what we're doing.
The next meeting of the PPG will be Tuesday 13 August.
