December Awareness Campaigns

promoting health and wellbeing

From your Patient Participation Group (PPG)

Posted: 6 December 2019 · Practice news

Every month the Academy Medical Centre Patient Participation Group raises awareness of some of the health and wellbeing campaigns running nationally and worldwide.

The PPG would like to highlight the following campaigns in December:

  • International Volunteer Day on 5th December: The International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development, more commonly referred to as International Volunteer Day (IVD), is an international observance mandated by the UN General Assembly in 1985. You can read more about the day on Wikipedia, or on the UN Volunteers website.
  • Crohns and Colitis Awareness Week from 1st to 7th December: Find out about the campaign on the Crohn's and Colitis UK website
  • Decembeard for Bowel Cancer UK (all month): Encouraging men across the UK to get sponsored to grow a beard this December in support of bowel cancer awareness. Find out more on the Bowel Cancer UK website.

You can get involved and raise awareness by talking about the campaigns, tweeting or sharing on social media, or by donating, fundraising and pledging your support.

The PPG committee wishes all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

About the PPG

The Academy Medical Centre PPG has worked with the practice since 2010 to enhance the delivery of primary care services in a number of areas.

You can make a difference to the Practice too! To get involved or find out more about the work and how the PPG assists the practice and you, the patient, see the Academy Medical Centre PPG page. Notes of our meetings are also available to give you a real flavour of what we're doing.
