From your Patient Participation Group (PPG)
Every month the Academy Medical Centre Patient Participation Group raises awareness of some of the health and wellbeing campaigns running nationally and worldwide.
The PPG would like to highlight the following campaigns in January:
- NEW YEAR NEW YOU! Look at the following webpages for hints and tips to get you started:
Leaflets will be available on the desk in the foyer on diet, quitting smoking, reducing alcohol consumption etc.
- Cervical Cancer Awareness Month: There are leaflets on the desk in the foyer. Also visit The Eve Appeal website at https://eveappeal.org.uk/ which is a charity that encourages women to be checked regularly for early signs of this and other gynaecological cancers.
- Young Carers Awareness Day (30 January): Young Carers Awareness Day raises awareness of the challenges faced by young carers and campaigns for greater support for them. Get involved on social media with #CountMeIn and #YoungCarersAwarenessDay. Further information is available on the Carers Trust website.
You can get involved and raise awareness by talking about the campaigns, tweeting or sharing on social media, or by donating, fundraising and pledging your support.
The notes of our December meeting are now available on the PPG page. Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 14 January 2020.
About the PPG
The Academy Medical Centre PPG has worked with the practice since 2010 to enhance the delivery of primary care services in a number of areas.
You can make a difference to the Practice too! To get involved or find out more about the work and how the PPG assists the practice and you, the patient, see the Academy Medical Centre PPG page. Notes of our meetings are also available to give you a real flavour of what we're doing.
