From your Patient Participation Group (PPG)
Every month the Academy Medical Centre Patient Participation Group raises awareness of some health and wellbeing campaigns.
February is National Heart Month, and the British Heart Foundation and Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland aim to raise awareness of a variety of heart conditions. They continue to provide support and information.
Earlier this month was Mental Health Week for Children (1-7 February), on the theme "Express Yourself". There's more information on children and mental health at SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health) or you can watch this video from NHS Education for Scotland about supporting children and young people's mental health:

Covid Vaccinations
Emphasis though is on reaching those patients who should receive their Covid Vaccination. The surgery is making great strides with this, contacting people by phone, email or letter. Please remember to update your contact details if we don't have correct information for you, or if you would like to add your mobile number or email address.
Please do continue to adhere to current Covid guidelines when out and about, even if you've been vaccinated. Use Coronavirus in Scotland from gov.scot for the latest news, and keep watching the Academy Medical Centre Facebook page.
About the PPG
The Academy Medical Centre PPG has worked with the practice since 2010 to enhance the delivery of primary care services in a number of areas.
You can make a difference to the Practice too! To get involved or find out more about the work and how the PPG assists the practice and you, the patient, see the Academy Medical Centre PPG page. Notes of our meetings are also available to give you a real flavour of what we're doing.
