From your Patient Participation Group (PPG)
Every month the Academy Medical Centre Patient Participation Group raises awareness of some health and wellbeing campaigns.
The PPG would like to highlight the following campaigns in March:
- No Smoking Day (Thursday 11 March): it's more important than ever to stop smoking during the Coronavirus outbreak. There's a free NHS stop smoking app you can use to help, and there are lots of reasons why to quit! Find out information on the benefits of quitting to you and those around you, and find the support you might need to make your quit attempt a success, at NHS Inform: Stopping Smoking.
- Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month: Ovarian cancer is the 5th most common cancer amongst women. For more information about the symptoms and treatments see Target Ovarian Cancer, Ovarian Cancer Action and The Eve Appeal. You can also find out more at NHS Inform: Cervical Cancer. Share on social media with the tag #OvarianCancerAwarenessMonth
- World Kidney Day (Thursday 11 March): World Kidney Day is an annual campaign to help raise awareness of kidneys and show the suffering caused when they don’t work properly. It also aims to educate people on what kidneys do and how to improve your kidney health. Find out more at World Kidney Day, or visit National Kidney Federation or NHS Inform: Chronic Kidney Disease. Promote the campaign with the tag #kidneysmatter
You can get involved and raise awareness by talking about the campaigns, tweeting or sharing on social media, or by donating, fundraising and pledging your support.
About the PPG
The Academy Medical Centre PPG has worked with the practice since 2010 to enhance the delivery of primary care services in a number of areas.
You can make a difference to the Practice too! To get involved or find out more about the work and how the PPG assists the practice and you, the patient, see the Academy Medical Centre PPG page. Notes of our meetings are also available to give you a real flavour of what we're doing.
