From your Patient Participation Group (PPG)
Every month the Academy Medical Centre Patient Participation Group raises awareness of some health and wellbeing campaigns.
The PPG would like to highlight the following campaigns in May:
- Sun awareness: the aim of this annual campaign is to raise awareness for the dangers of long exposure to the sun, and to promote safety when outside. For further information about sun exposure, please see:
- Sunburn and the dangers from NHS Inform
- Sun, UV and cancer from Cancer Research UK
- Sunscreen and sun safety from NHS.UK
- Asthma awareness: find our more on the Asthma UK website and on NHS Inform. These websites will give you ways in which to monitor the condition and to assist in management of asthma and lung illnesses.
- Deaf awarness: About 1 in 6 people have hearing loss. Deaf Awareness Week 2023 aims to raise awareness of the communication needs of deaf and hard of hearing people, advocate for greater access to communication tools and services, and encourage people and services to work together to create a more inclusive society where deaf people have equal access to communication. You can get involved and raise awareness by talking about the campaigns, tweeting or sharing on social media, or by donating, fundraising and pledging your support.
About the PPG
The Academy Medical Centre PPG has worked with the practice since 2010 to enhance the delivery of primary care services in a number of areas.
You can make a difference to the Practice too! To get involved or find out more about the work and how the PPG assists the practice and you, the patient, see the Academy Medical Centre PPG page. Notes of our meetings are also available to give you a real flavour of what we're doing.
